– Blumar and other industrial sector companies in Talcahuano commemorated more than two decades of successful socio-environmental management alongside neighbors and authorities, highlighting the launch of new initiatives for sustainable territorial development.

With an emotional breakfast at the Municipality of Talcahuano and the presentation of a mini-documentary at the Dante Theater, the Tripartite Liberty-Gaete Board celebrated its 23 years of trajectory, consolidating its role as a space for dialogue and cooperation between the community, the public sector, and companies in the area.
The initiative, which brings together eight companies from the industrial sector –including Blumar, Cementos Bío Bío and Siderúrgica Huachipato, among others– together with representatives of neighborhood associations and the municipality, seeks to jointly address challenges associated with industrial activity, generating concrete solutions that have improved the quality of life of residents.
“These 23 years of joint work demonstrate that permanent dialogue and the pursuit of common objectives are the foundation for building long-term relationships with our communities. The Tripartite Board has been a pioneer in establishing a work model that today is a reference in the region,” highlighted Blumar’s ESG Management and Climate Change head and representative of the Tripartite Liberty-Gaete Board, Estefanía Humud.
During the commemoration, the articulating role of this instance and its ability to promote initiatives that benefit the community were highlighted. Days later, a mini-documentary was presented at the Dante Theater, which captures the main milestones and achievements reached during more than two decades of joint work.
New urban improvement project advances with the community
Thanks to this public-private alliance, the project to improve flower beds on Hualpén Street is currently under development, an initiative that recently completed its third participatory instance with the community. The project, which emerges from the collaboration between the Municipality of Talcahuano, the Tripartite Liberty-Gaete Board, and Huella Local Foundation, contemplates the creation of a children’s recreational area, a calisthenics area, and rest spaces in the section between Alto Horno and Simpson, especially benefiting families who attend Liberty Elementary School and Arenita Kindergarten in the sector.
“This project represents a concrete example of how public-private collaboration can generate significant changes in the community. It reflects our commitment to actively participate in working groups that directly benefit neighbors. Seeing how the Gaete community has been the protagonist in the design of this space fills us with optimism and demonstrates that when companies, authorities, and neighbors work together we can create sustainable solutions that improve people’s quality of life,” noted Humud.
Once this participatory design stage is completed, the project will be submitted to the Urban Improvement Program of the Undersecretary of Regional Development for implementation.
