- The agreement that will benefit residents of Libertad, Gaete and San Vicente will begin with the execution of a food handling workshop to be held at the facilities of the gastronomy school of the Universidad del Trabajador.
Focused on providing new learning and employment opportunities to residents of Libertad, Gaete and San Vicente in the Municipality of Talcahuano. The fishing and salmon farming company, Blumar, together with the Universidad del Trabajador, INFOCAP, signed a new collaboration agreement, which aims to develop activities that point towards sustainable development, in areas of productivity, digital divide reduction, social vulnerability reduction, healthy eating and future projection.
This alliance includes a “Food Handling Workshop” at the gastronomy school of the educational institution, which will have 50 available slots for residents of the sectors who are interested in learning more about the trade.
“From Infocap we are very enthusiastic about this agreement signed with Blumar; not only will it allow us to provide training opportunities to fifty people living in communities in Talcahuano, but also, these courses have a different component, with a territorial focus, in which students will learn about food handling of seafood products”, said Daniela Cabeza, director of Infocap Concepción headquarters.
Blumar’s Human Resources Manager, Raúl Hermosilla, expressed, "This alliance is a source of pride for us, as it allows us to connect with our neighbors in Libertad, Gaete and San Vicente through their neighborhood associations, with INFOCAP, an institution that has first-rate facilities, which will achieve much greater progress and understanding of the trade, as well as new employment and development opportunities".
Meanwhile, Sofia Guzmán, Head of Collaborative Alliances and Fundraising at Infocap commented “each region has different issues, however, we as an institution that trains workers for this society, have realized that there is a similarity and an internal need in everyone to want to improve and work, from there we believe that the alliance with a company, which also has a local impact, promotes confidence in people to be able to enter the labor market, to be able to generate a community of people who are working towards the same goal of moving forward.”
The food handling training consists of two courses, morning and afternoon sessions, with a schedule of 110 hours of training, divided into technical and transversal subjects, with emphasis on seafood products. Once the course is completed, students will receive a kit with kitchen tools and supplies as motivation to enter the labor market.
