– In the activity, which has been carried out since 2019, students were able to learn more about how salmon farming works and tour the facilities of the culture center to enhance their learning.
Punta Arenas, November 11, 2022. The students specializing in aquaculture from Liceo María Behety visited the Bahía León Center of the Blumar company in order to learn more about productive activities and to be part of future professional internships at salmon farming centers.
These visits, which have been held since 2019, are part of Blumar’s objectives aimed at promoting technical-professional education in the areas where it operates. During the activity, students were able to see operations, feed the fish, and get a closer look at the daily work at the center.
Alfredo Soto, a teacher at Liceo María Behety, noted after the activity that “it was a very productive visit. I leave enriched by the experience that the staff of this culture center provided us, which allows me to have a better understanding of how they are organized and how they care about environmental issues”.
One of the successful cases of these educational experiences was that of former student Javiera Arriagada, who currently works at Blumar, who stated that “the experience is exciting, it makes me very happy to be able to share knowledge so that students can see how we work, the way we work together with our work teams and the different activities we carry out. I hope that in the future they will also be professionals at this company”.
For his part, Bahía León center assistant Juan Martínez indicated that “these activities are undoubtedly very powerful, because they allow us to motivate students to continue in aquaculture, so that they have the opportunity to develop professionally at Blumar in the future. We hope these opportunities continue to exist”.
“It was a very interesting visit, because now that we were able to come, we could see what we learn in class in real life, which I thought was very nice”, noted Scarlet Jara, a student at Liceo María Behety.
