As part of the regional economic recovery plan “Step by Step Plan Chile Recovers,” Blumar received a visit at its Salmon Plant facilities in Talcahuano from the Seremi of Finance for the Biobío Region, José Manuel Rebolledo, who had the opportunity to meet with the Salmon Plant’s logistics and commercial management team, and learn about part of the facilities and its processing plant, as well as the Covid-19 protocols implemented for entry and work functions inside since the beginning of the health crisis.
During the meeting, Blumar executives presented on logistics operations in the salmon and fishing areas, sharing export figures, procedures, certificates, relations with public agencies and commercial destinations with the authority. To this, Blumar Salmon’s commercial and value manager, Daniel Montoya, commented that during the first half of 2020 and as a result of the scenario change due to the pandemic, there were several changes and adjustments that the company had to implement, which has not stopped its operations. “These instances are good to make transparent the work that exists in relation to the export of our products, to publicize the logistics involved, together with the future projection in distribution matters.”
For Blumar’s logistics sub-manager, Marcelo Alvarez, “It is important that authorities know and visit our facilities, because it helps them understand the logistics processes in detail and facilitates the search for efficiencies in the export process. Our region and the country must be more competitive and manage to export in shorter times and with lower costs”.
For his part, the Seremi of Finance for the Biobío Region, José Manuel Rebolledo, showed great interest in the complexities and challenges of the business, as there are particular characteristics that are important to highlight. He mentioned during the meeting that it is important to know what Blumar’s foreign trade means, in order to be aware of opportunities for improvement, both in the processing of sales and in logistics, “what we are looking for is to be able to increase the export flow and strengthen the logistics platform we have with the six ports in the region and Carriel Sur airport, we are interested in promoting exports and imports through the infrastructure we have in the region, which is why it is important to understand the flows, know the problems, put ourselves in the shoes of exporters and from there address and act on the opportunities for improvement we have to thus transform the Biobío region into an export platform from Rengo to the South”.
He added that the visit gave him the opportunity to gain a global vision of the company, as well as see the level of professionalism with which it works. “Blumar is a world-class company that should generate pride for the country for all the positive externality it has, we should work to develop a culture in the country so that we feel proud of the salmon industry we have”.
Blumar has an open-door program to publicize the productive processes generated in its different facilities, beneficial instances that help convey the work that exists from Caldera to Magallanes.
