A successful Safety Event for the Fishing Area was held at Blumar facilities.  On the eve of starting the jack mackerel season, more than 150 workers involved gathered to hear the Company’s message.

The motivational talk was led by Horacio de la Peña, former tennis player and coach, who through anecdotes from his sports career delivered important messages regarding leadership, teamwork, and achievements. “Safety is based on discipline”, he highlighted.

The welcome greeting was given by Blumar’s Human Resources Manager, Raúl Hermosilla, who thanked the high attendance at the event. “This will be a challenging season, with a lot of fish to process, and our call is not to incur unnecessary risks, to take maximum awareness of self-care”, he highlighted.

In this first massive post-pandemic meeting, José Ocares, Blumar’s Operations Manager, emphasized that the main message of the event is safety. “We must permanently care for ourselves and our colleagues. Together with ACHS we make the invitation to reflect that we are in a high-risk activity, we are returning in a new fishing season and we need supervisors and operators to be aware of their daily role, not to lose focus on safety and self-care”.

Cynthia García, Sub Regional Operations Manager at ACHS, highlighted the commitment of the different departments in Blumar’s Safety Events, “It is very remarkable that the different departments are present in instances like these, worrying about and taking care of the safety of their employees”.

She also recalled that during the pandemic the different organizations focused on regulations and oversight for Covid. “Today I highlight that Blumar complied with all the standards of its processes with a certification in management systems, always caring for its workers. Now is the time for the message of self-care, which is why the invitation to reactivate and motivate to be protagonists of safety is very appropriate”.
