  • Through the credit, various objectives were set around issues such as reducing carbon footprint, decreasing antibiotic use, increasing certifications, waste management and renewable energy use.

Talcahuano, July 3, 2023. It was in December 2020 when Blumar became the first company in the sector to receive long-term financing under the Sustainability Linked Loan modality, led by Rabobank and with the participation of Banco Santander, BCI, Security and DNB. As a result, the company set various objectives around issues such as reducing carbon footprint, decreasing antibiotic use, increasing certifications, waste management and renewable energy use.

That is why Senior Banker Corporate Banking Monica Coeymans and Rabobank Corporate Associate Sebastián Herrera visited the jack mackerel and fishing plant in Talcahuano to learn firsthand about Blumar’s processes and operations in its various areas.

“Blumar knows how to do things and does them well, we were also very pleased with the human quality of the people. In the conversation we had, we were able to notice that great work is being done, that they are managing to put sustainability within their business strategy, which is something that as a bank we are quite interested in,” highlighted Senior Banker Corporate Banking Monica Coeymans.

For his part, Rabobank Corporate Associate Sebastián Herrera stated that “we thank Blumar for receiving us, because it is very different to see this on paper than to be able to be here, to see the processes and to be with the people”.

Blumar’s Administration and Finance Manager, Manuel Gallardo, noted that “our company is always open to receiving visits so that they can learn about our processes, the progress we are making in them and how we work day to day with sustainability as our foundation. In that sense, we were very pleased that Rabobank could notice that we are committed to the objectives signed with the Sustainability Linked Loan credit”.
