– Export-quality salmon produced locally by Blumar will be delivered as part of the School Feeding Program (PAE), allowing students from 67 educational institutions to access export-standard quality products produced locally.
Punta Arenas, March 2026. A premium product produced in Magallanes and typically destined for the most demanding international markets, will now become part of the regular diet of over 11,800 students in the region. Thanks to Blumar becoming a supplier for the School Feeding Program (PAE), children and young people from 67 public and subsidized educational establishments will have monthly access to first-quality Atlantic salmon, cultivated and processed entirely in Magellanic territory.
The program, which began implementation in March, includes the distribution of one thousand kilos per month of premium salmon during 2026, representing a milestone in regional school feeding by systematically introducing for the first time this high nutritional value food.
“We are very pleased to be able to contribute directly to the development and well-being of Magellanic students with a product that is part of the productive identity of our region. This salmon that will now reach the tables of thousands of children and young people is exactly the same as what we export to the most demanding markets in the world,” highlighted Blumar Market Store manager, Trinidad Amézaga.
From pilot project to regional nutritional solution
What began in 2025 as voluntary donations of salmon to three educational establishments –schools in Río Verde, Barranco Amarillo and Liceo María Behety– now expands throughout the region following the incorporation of salmon into the PAE menu and Blumar’s subsequent incorporation as a supplier in the bidding process.
“Salmon day is the most attended, nothing is left on the children’s plates,” food handlers commented during last year’s pilot experience, confirming the excellent reception of this product among students.
The salmon delivered corresponds to premium Atlantic salmon fillets with skin vacuum-sealed, sourced from aquaculture centers in Río Verde and Última Esperanza, processed at the Blumar Magallanes plant in Punta Arenas, ensuring a 100% regional production chain.
Quality nutrition for child development
For Magellanic students, the incorporation of premium salmon into their regular diet represents a significant nutritional contribution. Rich in omega 3, vitamins and essential minerals, this food directly contributes to the cognitive and physical development of children and young people in school age.
For 2026, in addition to regular salmon provision, the company plans to replicate and expand activities previously developed through Blumar Market, including tastings, nutritional education points and new experiences such as cooking classes and preparation techniques.
Strengthening the link with the regional community
Blumar’s participation in the PAE deepens its commitment to Magallanes, joining other initiatives such as support for the Estrecho Dive, Chapuzón Kids, work with technical-professional high schools, monthly salmon donations for the Ecomercados promoted by Fosis and the presence in the region of the company’s only store, Blumar Market –which will celebrate four years in 2026–.
“This initiative truly represents our purpose of nourishing people while honoring the ocean, and allows us to strengthen the link between what we produce in the region and those who live in it, especially new generations,” concluded Amézaga.
