– The initiative is part of a series of invitations to authorities as part of the Onboard Visits program so they can personally learn about the company’s facilities and innovations.
Concepción, July 19, 2023. Deputy Roberto Arroyo and Deputy Joanna Pérez visited the fishing and salmon company Blumar, in order to learn more about the industries in which the company works and meet with various representatives of the unions and executives who direct the areas.
The newly elected parliamentarian for district 21 toured Blumar’s salmon plant, where she was presented with the main indicators the company had in its second Integrated Report, as well as the importance of its work in the region. During the activity, she was accompanied by the plant’s union leaders, as well as the Administration and Finance Manager, Manuel Gallardo; the Human Resources Manager, Raúl Hermosilla, and the Processing Manager, Fernanda Taboada.
“This is a company that in the Biobío Region employs more than a thousand people, and I think that should also be valued. Today, when it is necessary to have a perspective of development and growth of the country, of increasing employment, I also think we must send signals to companies that are complying with regulations and inspections”, said Joanna Pérez.
She added that “it has been an important visit and I hope that we all continue, the fishing companies, the industry, artisanal fishing, trying to get them to talk; especially when the government today wants to establish a new Fisheries Law, it is important that we listen to everyone”.
Then it was the turn of Deputy Roberto Arroyo, who represents district 20, who learned about Blumar’s fleet and toured the frozen jack mackerel plant in San Vicente, guided by the Fishing Operations Manager, José Ocares; Blumar’s Sustainability Sub-Manager, Felipe Hormazábal; the Fleet Chief, Roberto Contreras, and the Jack Mackerel Plant Chief, Javier Zúñiga. Also present were the leaders of the unions in the fishing area.
The parliamentarian thanked the invitation from the fishing and salmon company and stated that “I saw a very organized, automated plant, and I was also able to learn better about the projects they have with the communities in the territories where they work, which interests me greatly so they can be good neighbors. I am very happy with this visit”.
Blumar’s Sustainability Sub-Manager, Felipe Hormáz abal, highlighted that “we are very pleased to be able to receive the authorities in our workplace, where we have been able to show them the matters we are working on and the objectives we have for the future. For us it is important to open our doors and for them to personally learn about the facilities, accompanied by the collaborators who are a fundamental part of the company”.
