– Together with AmiChile, partner companies and social organizations, the initiative will provide salmon, mussels and hake to ensure nutritious meals for families and emergency teams over the next two months.

Tomé, January 30, 2026.- With the formal delivery of a significant shipment of food, Chilean aquaculture, represented by SalmonChile, AmiChile and their collaborators, materialized an important contribution to support efforts for those affected by the forest fires that have severely impacted the regions of Ñuble and Biobío. The delivery took place at the facilities of Frigorífico Camanchaca Tomé, where representatives of the industry, regional and local authorities, and social organizations met to coordinate the distribution of these resources.
The initiative, which is part of a comprehensive support plan activated by SalmonChile together with AmiChile, producing companies and suppliers from the aquaculture sector, includes the delivery of 2.3 tons of salmon, 4.7 tons of mussels, 300 kilos of hake and 15,000 kilos of potatoes donated by Agrollanquihue. These foods were delivered to the association “Cocineros en Movimiento”, who will transform these products into nutritious meals for the affected families and personnel deployed in emergency operations.
During the press conference held this morning, the regional governor of Biobío, Sergio Giacamán, praised the aid amid the emergency. “I want to thank all the organizations and people who have stepped up, and particularly today, for this tremendous donation we have received and which will be managed from this collection point to reach each and every one of the people who depend on a community kitchen”, he said.
For his part, the mayor of Tomé, Italo Cáceres, highlighted the importance of this aid for the municipality. “I can only thank this commitment to provide food for families who are going through a very difficult time. As mayor, I can only remain always willing to collaborate, to rebuild and create all means to improve the quality of life of our neighbors”, he stated.
Meanwhile, Ricardo López, representative of SalmonChile, highlighted the sector’s commitment to affected communities. “This is a campaign we started 10 days ago with our member companies, the salmon production chain and aquaculture to help those affected in Biobío with the purpose of providing food to the affected people, families linked to the salmon production sector or the area, to have quality food for the next two months”, he assured.
The president of Agrollanquihue, Eduardo Schwerter, also valued the multi-sector coordination. “We have joined this solidarity action with the shipment of 15 thousand kilos of potatoes and 15 tons of fodder, aimed at supporting those affected, who are fighting the fire and agricultural producers impacted by the fires in the Biobío Region. We believe that, facing emergencies of this magnitude, collaboration between industry groups and productive sectors is essential to reach those who need it most in a timely manner”, he emphasized.
The aquaculture sector’s support network was articulated through eight companies linked to salmon farming —Multi-X, Salmones Blumar, Salmones Camanchaca, Salmones Austral, Yadrán, Marine Farm, Salmones Antártica and Primar— who made the salmon donation concrete. This effort was joined by members of AmiChile, such as Landes, SudMaris, Camanchaca Cultivos Sur, Ría Austral and Saint Andrews with the contribution of mussels, along with the hake contribution from Caleta Anahuac.
The initiative also has logistics partners such as Frigorífico Puerto Montt and the Trade Association Federation of Cargo Transport Associations of Chiloé, which have facilitated the cold chain and transport necessary to guarantee product quality.
Mauricio Pérez, director of Cocineros en Movimiento, explained that with “weather like today’s you need protein, you need strength. A warm meal is not just the body, it is the soul, it is energy, it is hope, and when people from the south arrive so committed to the work, expecting nothing to help others, I believe it gives all of us an incentive of hope and energy that this will work out and that we will achieve it”.
This delivery is also part of a broader support plan that SalmonChile has deployed since the first days of the emergency, which includes the availability of 14 heavy-duty trucks for water transport, the delivery of snacks and fuel for logistics operations, the transport of volunteers, a census of affected workers, veterinary medicines through associated laboratories Virbac and Veterquímica and coordination with FEDECAM Centro-Sur for the collection of construction materials. Equally and in coordination with Desafio Levantemos Chile, the acquisition of 50 debris removal kits from companies Aquagen, SudVet, ADL and Akva.
