With the awarding of nine beneficiary projects, yesterday concluded the first version of the Competitive Funds Program promoted by the Business Table in the Libertad-Gaete sector in Talcahuano, which includes the companies CAP Acero, Cbb, Inchalam, Blumar, PacificBlu, together with the Association of Fishing Industrialists, ASIPES.
The contest set as its primary objective to support and finance different initiatives by social organizations in the neighborhood axis that includes the settlements Libertad Norte and Sur, Gaete, Sol Naciente and Nuevo Amanecer.
Six million pesos were distributed among different initiatives, ranging from self-care sessions for seniors, sports equipment, enabling and improvement of spaces and acquisition of tools for workshops. The awards ceremony was held at CAP Acero and was attended by company executives, authorities and the community that participated in the competition.
The spokesperson for the Business Table and Sustainability Manager of Blumar, Felipe Hormazábal, highlighted that “for the companies that work with the communities in the sector, this competitive fund is a very important advance for the development of bonds with functional organizations. The groups that obtained financing have demonstrated a capacity for social collaboration of great impact and we hope that this financing will greatly contribute to the objectives they have set. We feel that the results demonstrate that this is the correct path to continue bringing value to our communities and makes us part of the community’s aspirations. The Business Table was established to contribute to well-being and this is a big step”.
The competition was launched in June and after the call, interested neighbors were trained and accompanied so they could generate an efficient, complete proposal that adjusted to their interests.
Ángela Santana is the representative of the Social Action Center for Seniors “Un Porvenir Mejor”, which operates at the Nuevo Amanecer headquarters. Obtaining financing for her project is a motivation for the group, she says, and an achievement that invites thinking of new ideas. “It is gratifying for us and a way of telling people that positive things can always happen. In our group there are 25 people, some very elderly who sometimes become discouraged due to lack of opportunities. This project is a way of telling them that there are options and there is help”, she highlighted.
The Business Table, which operates under the Tripartite Table Libertad-Gaete, took on the challenge of coordinating and supporting projects that positively impact neighbors in the sectors near its area of operation in the port municipality. The Competitive Funds Program is executed jointly with the Trascender Foundation, which through its professionals advises organizations for the application and development of their initiatives.
