In total, 750 children entered the Strait of Magellan, accompanied by their parents

Neither the wind nor the cold prevented the second edition of Chapuzón Kids from taking place this Saturday, an event that in its new edition was only for the brave between 6 and 12 years old.

The activity began at 15:00 hrs with music to warm up the engines, and at 15:30 hrs the children, together with their parents, entered the icy waters of the Strait of Magellan. The event took place with a wind chill of 8 degrees and 33 kilometers of wind.

The mayor of the municipality, Claudio Radonich, highlighted that “the families had a great time, the children enjoyed it, so we are very happy and very grateful for the work we are doing with Blumar, the Navy, Carabineros, the Army and, of course, with the Municipality, which creates this opportunity for our youngest neighbors to connect with our Strait of Magellan from a young age.”

In the same vein, Trinidad Amézaga, commercial manager of Blumar Market, noted that “we are super happy. Without a doubt, the dip was a success. It was very windy, but also many children participating and lots of public. Also, the surprise we had prepared as Blumar was very well received, with a nice snack so that, after leaving the cold water, the children go home happy.”

One of the protagonists of the dip was Isabella Ríos, who mentioned that “it was very good, plus it was my first time and it was the best day of my life. I felt the cold waters.”

Another one of the girls who participated in the event was Emilia Pérez, who said she was a bit nervous and that the most difficult thing for her was the cold and the wind.

A family activity that is already establishing itself as a must-do of summer and that had all safety measures, with divers, lifeguards and rescue personnel.
