– The instance, which provided tools for the daily lives of young people, was valued by the students and their teachers. 

Seeking  students to be more autonomous and have tools that are useful for daily life, Mercado Blumar taught a functional cooking workshop for young people from the Paul Harris Special School in Punta Arenas.

“It was a very nice experience, very enriching for us. We were able to share the store’s products, teach the young people what formats we work, how salmon is produced in general terms, how it came to our table so that we could prepare it in ceviche format and in pizza format, with smoked salmon,” said Mercado Blumar store manager Trinidad Amezaga.

Likewise, she stated that “the students greatly valued the experience; I think it was also a contribution for the teachers, so we are happy to have carried out this activity and we hope to continue doing it during the year.” 

Chef David Ojeda also appreciated the event because “it is a different format from what we usually do, but there was good collaboration and a relaxed atmosphere to spend time and have a good time.” 

For her part, the teacher in charge of the workshop, Evangelina Gallardo, mentioned that the main objective was “to support young people to become more autonomous and functional people, who are capable of doing more things, especially in their homes.” 

Furthermore, the teacher added that “we have a group of students who really want to learn how to cook. We thank Blumar for supporting us at this stage. The workshop seems wonderful to me. “They were things that we didn’t have access to, and for them to see and do this is something very new.”
