– The company and San Sebastian University try to provide training tools to students of Liceo Bicentenario Carlos Haverbeck Richter so they can successfully function in the world of work.
Seeking to promote the employability of young people in Corral, Blumar announced the renewal of its alliance with the San Sebastián University (USS) to provide career guidance workshops at the Liceo Bicentenario Carlos Haverbeck Richter in Corral.
The initiative, in which students of the last year of the Industrial Food Processing specialty participate, seeks to provide tools through job guidance and professional internships in the company, to support them in the task of entering the world of work and contributing to the development of the region.
In addition to the theoretical training, students take guided tours to the facilities of the Blumar flour and oil processing plant in Corral. This allows them to learn first-hand about the production processes and the latest technologies used in the industry, in addition to generating an approch with the world of work.
The director of Environmental Linkage at Universidad San Sebastián, in Valdivia , Felipe Mena, said that “last year, the program was quite successful, it obtained very good results and opinions from the students and the establishment. That left us satisfied, but with the challenge of continuing to improve. Therefore, we have integrated new tools that we are transmitting to students, and we hope that we can better prepare them not only for the job market, but also for life.”
The director of the Liceo Bicentenario Carlos Haverbeck Richter de Corral, Luis Cárdenas, stated that “I thank Blumar and the San Sebastián University for their great effort in providing us with support to face the problems of the establishment, such as isolation. It allows our students to have more and better tools to apply for better jobs, when they graduate, that help their families improve and fulfill their dreams.”
For his part, Franco Montenegro, Industrial Food Processing Technician student, valued that “being able to do the internship at Blumar is a great opportunity. It is the company that helps young people in the area who leave high school, providing job opportunities.”
Blumar’s Deputy Sustainability Manager, Felipe Hormazábal, commented that the project is part of the company’s actions to promote education in the regions. “We hope that this project is fruitful, like last year, and that these tools are used so that students have job opportunities and acquire skills that allow them to function in their work and personal lives.”
