The recognition, delivered by the Ministry of the Environment program, acknowledges the voluntary management of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by Blumar subsidiaries and their responsibility in measuring carbon footprint.

Within the framework of the National Carbon Management Program HuellaChile, promoted by the Ministry of the Environment, Blumar and its subsidiaries Salmones Blumar S.A., Salmones Blumar Magallanes SpA and Pesquera Bahía Caldera S.A. were recognized for their commitment to measuring, managing and reducing their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
This occurred at the ceremony where more than 300 public and private institutions were highlighted for advancing climate action and corporate sustainability. In Blumar’s case, the distinction reflects the systematic work that the company has been developing since 2018 to measure its carbon footprint, implement energy efficiency measures and promote the use of renewable energy in its productive operations.
“Receiving this recognition is a great source of pride for Blumar, as it represents the result of constant work we have been developing since 2018. We believe that measuring alone is a major step forward, because it provides us with a clear diagnosis to manage our emissions effectively. This recognition validates our commitment to climate action and reinforces our purpose of advancing toward more sustainable and environmentally responsible operations,” highlighted Blumar’s Environmental Manager, María José Zagal.
Among the company’s main environmental advances, the company’s ESG and Climate Change Manager, Estefanía Humud, highlighted the importance of collaboration and 100% renewable electricity supply in plants since 2021, which has directly impacted the reduction of scope 2 carbon footprint. These advances are complemented by the replacement of fossil fuels, from diesel to gas, in boilers and the implementation of energy efficiency management systems.
“For us this is a starting point. We know that measurement is the foundation, but the real challenge lies in moving toward reduction. We are currently developing a greenhouse gas emissions reduction target validated by SBTI (Science Based Targets initiative), an international body that certifies that reduction commitments are aligned with global standards in the matter. The objective is to build a roadmap that allows us to advance in long-term decarbonization,” Humud concluded.
