HAND IN HAND WITH BLUGLACIER: CHILEAN SALMON TO BE THE STAR AT BOSTON TRADE SHOW

Industry & Global Standards

The Seafood Expo North America trade show, held in Boston, Massachusetts, United States (U.S.) since 1982, will feature an attractive stand with Chilean salmon. In its Atlantic and coho varieties, in fresh and frozen presentation, the product will be displayed following a very successful year-end for BluGlacier in terms of sales in the North American market.

Daniel Montoya, commercial manager of Salmones Blumar, explained to AQUA that BluGlacier, a commercial subsidiary in the United States with its base in Miami, experienced “strong growth” during 2018, achieving sales of US$276 million, a figure 37% higher than 2017. “This consolidates BluGlacier as the largest Chilean salmon marketer in the United States, reaching 22,500 tons of final product,” the executive stated.

He added that the product leaves Chile thanks to the alliance between Blumar and Ventisqueros, which ensures the supply needed to meet the needs of major supermarket chains and restaurants. “We are very satisfied with the work developed by a highly committed and professional human team, which allows our Chilean salmon to reach 40 of the 50 states,” Montoya emphasized.

He noted that this year, in order to serve its customers more comfortably, BluGlacier will present itself in a renovated stand, 50% larger than in previous years. “It will be a meeting point with most of our clients and an opportunity to showcase our sought-after salmon and establish new business contacts with buyers not only from the United States, but from around the world,” he concluded.

At the consolidated level, the company reported increases in revenue, pre-fair value adjustment EBITDA, and net income during the second quarter and first half of 2026, driven primarily by the fishing segment and the recognition of U.S. tariff refunds in the salmon segment. On a year-to-date basis, the aquaculture segment remained below the results recorded in the first half of 2025, although it showed a recovery during the second quarter.
