– During a visit to Blumar’s facilities, the parliamentarian highlighted that the industry-community alliance must be strengthened, promoting the sector’s relevance in regional development and employment.

“We have always pointed out the importance of salmon farming, which is the second most important productive activity in the country, after mining, and half of it is produced in this region. Therefore, we need to focus on how this activity meets and partners with the community to be an activity that delivers development and employment”.

With these words, Deputy Marcia Raphael closed her visit to Blumar’s Elena Weste culture center. Along the same lines, she illustrated that “US$ 6.500 million in annual exports is not insignificant. Half of that stays in the Aysén Region, therefore we will carry out all the activities we can from Congress so that this is a relevant sector in the region’s development and employment”.

The parliamentarian’s visit to the Aysén Region took place as part of Blumar’s “On Board Visits” program, through which Blumar showcases its facilities to authorities, reaffirming its commitment to transparency and collaboration between the public and private sectors.

Two city councilors from Aysén also participated in the activity. One of them was Luis Muñoz, who thanked the opportunity and highlighted the importance of authorities knowing “the companies that provide jobs to people in the municipality and understand how they operate day by day”. For her part, Tatiana Villarroel agreed: “It is always necessary to understand the realities of such an important productive sector for our municipality and region, such as the salmon farming industry. Companies in this sector must have a very close relationship with the community to grow together”.

Along those lines, Blumar’s Community Manager, Carolina Vera, highlighted that “our relationship with Aysén is long-standing, as we have been operating in the region for several years. In that sense, it is very valuable that the community and authorities visit us, get to know our facilities and the work we do. This allows them to get closer to the work of the industry and to be aware of its progress”.

On the other hand, councilwoman Villarroel noted that “at the technical training center in the region there are careers related to the aquaculture world, which is an incentive for inhabitants of the region to specialize in order to work increasingly qualified in the industry”.

The assistant at the center located in Puerto Aysén, Héctor Saavedra, highlighted that during the visit “very relevant issues were raised for professionals working in this sector, such as the promotion of the aquaculture career in the region. Blumar has partnerships with schools and technical organizations, which allow us to have more and more job opportunities in the industry”.
