Coyhaique-. Representatives of the Corporación de Desarrollo del Litoral de Aysén, CorpAysén held a fruitful meeting with the Undersecretary of Environment in the country’s capital, an opportunity in which they raised several issues related to that organization’s commitment to sustainability and environmental education.

At the meeting, representatives of the Aysén-based organization detailed to Undersecretary Rodrigo Benítez Ureta the objectives pursued by the corporation in environmental matters, where actions aimed at solid waste management in general stand out, and the importance of citizen participation and commitment in that area. They also presented matters related to climate change and its impact on the zone, and the relationship of this factor with territorial problems linked to environmental issues.

On environmental education, they detailed to the Undersecretary that the fundamental task is to add more and more willing participants and strategic allies to establish an ad hoc culture among the inhabitants of the different localities that are part of Aysén province and ideally in the future expand that coverage to the entire region. They also proposed to the authority the possibility of carrying out joint work in the short term that allows them to reinforce the environmental commitment at the territorial level.

One of those attending the meeting was deputy Miguel Ángel Calisto, who in addition to organizing the meeting, valued the work being carried out by CorpAysén. For their part, members of the corporation’s environment committee, Claudio Carrasco from Citecma, Paulo Jorquera from Blumar and Hugo Reyes from AquaChile, detailed the organization’s mission and objectives in that area, emphasizing that within it coexist different trade associations and entities that have as a common goal, working for the integral development of Aysén province and its inhabitants and where the environmental variable is a determining factor.

Meanwhile, the SalmonChile representative on CorpAysén, Hernán Rebolledo, noted that there is a very fine harmony among the entities that are part of the corporation, highlighting that in matters of sustainability and commitment to the environment there is a common and consensual outlook, where the higher objective is to work jointly.

He stated that the salmon farming companies that are part of the corporation make a concrete contribution in environmental matters, which is complemented by the proposals also made by neighborhood associations, business associations in tourism and construction that are also part of CorpAysén.

“Therefore, these are transversal objectives, a broad and not narrow-minded environmental outlook, where the higher interests of the community and the territory come together and in no case individual visions or commitments to any particular sector,” Rebolledo emphasized.

Finally, the SalmonChile representative indicated that the Undersecretary was very enthusiastic about the values promoted by CorpAysén in environmental matters, so they hope this is the beginning of a fruitful partnership between the parties.
