 Tuesday, November 22, 2022. In order to formalize the work that has been underway for 2 years, Instituto Don Bosco and Salmones Blumar Magallanes signed a collaboration agreement that seeks to strengthen long-term collaborative work, fundamentally aimed at strengthening technical training and human capital creation in the region.

The agreement includes motivational talks, pedagogical visits to cultivation centers, training for mentor teachers, professor internships at the company, and professional internships at Salmones Blumar Magallanes.

“It is a favorable opportunity for the development of students and also for these soft skills that are often not developed in a traditional curriculum”, commented the acting director of Instituto Don Bosco, Ricardo Aguilar.

The director of the Salesian Work in Punta Arenas, Father Juan Carlos Favaretto, highlighted that “this is an optimal agreement. First, because there is an approach between a good school, such as Don Bosco, which prepares young people for the industry, which is currently one of the largest in the region and in Chile. Furthermore, students who graduate are offered the opportunity to complete their internship at a quality company, which currently constitutes one of the country’s largest sources of income”.

For his part, the production submanager of Salmones Blumar Magallanes, Pablo Solís, explained that “this is a much-desired agreement for the company. Thanks to initiatives like this, we achieve interaction between young people and our workers, who will share all their experience and collaborate in preparing qualified human capital. This agreement adds to the one we already have with Liceo María Behety, and we hope that many technical professional schools become interested in signing agreements like this to prepare future aquaculture workers here in Magallanes”.

“These alliances are essential to strengthen technical professional education in educational institutions, and companies that want to be part of student training are key to better develop students’ technical abilities, so they can better integrate into the industry”, emphasized Daniela Torres, regional director of NGO Canales, who was one of the architects of this partnership.
