After implementing a clean point at San Vicente School in Talcahuano in 2017, Blumar marked a new milestone this year by reopening the facility with the school community.

The clean point, which despite being installed within the school also benefits residents of the Penquista commune, was improved and presented to the school community in a ceremony attended by representatives from Blumar, the company Creo Reciclaje, as well as students, teachers and administrators.

“We are very happy, motivated and committed to the reopening of the clean point. It allows us, from the education side, to continue promoting the reuse and optimization of waste”, commented the director of the establishment, Paulina Esparza.

For his part, Carlos Fernández, a seventh grade student, stated that “thanks to this, we can recycle and there won’t be so much garbage in the school. We are grateful that there is a clean point, recycling is good for reducing pollution in the world”.

Bárbara Navarrete, the school’s Environmental Workshop coordinator, noted that the clean point will serve both for that workshop and for other initiatives the school has, such as the “Environmental Brigade”, where students generate projects in that field. “With this clean point, recycling is promoted, knowledge of the environment and environmental protection”, she said.

Isabel Díaz, founder of the company Creo Reciclaje, mentioned in the same vein that “this is an important process for us, where we participate with San Vicente School and Blumar, promoting recycling even more, and what better way to start than with elementary school children”.

María José Zagal, Blumar’s Environmental Engineer, stated that “we are very happy to make this project a reality with San Vicente School, since it is not only the implementation of a clean point, but we will also support the subsequent management of this project, which means removing waste, revaluating it and taking care of its final disposal”.

Meanwhile, Blumar’s fleet manager, Roberto Contreras, explained that “with the first fishing net recycling we had in 2017, we inaugurated the school’s first clean point and, taking it up again after seven years, is super important. We seek to generate extra value from these waste materials and contribute to this tremendous cause and others we have generated”.
