This recognition delivered by the event organizer highlights the human capital training initiatives that benefit the communities around which the salmon industry develops in the far southern zone of Chile.
The 2018 Training Award was received by BluRiver, a Blumar subsidiary that recently began operations in Magallanes, for the agreement it signed with María Behety High School in Menéndez, Punta Arenas, whose objective is to support the academic training of its students specializing in aquaculture in the third and fourth years of secondary education.
This recognition was presented by the International AquaSur Fair organization during the official dinner of the event held in Puerto Varas. The event brought together major executives from the salmon industry, authorities, industry representatives, artisanal fishing representatives, and community organizations.
From the AquaSur Fair organization, they explained that this award seeks to identify experiences or initiatives for training and human capital generation that promote change in these areas of the community around which the salmon industry develops in the far southern territory of Chile.
BluRiver’s initiative involves conducting talks for aquaculture specialty students at the establishment on production (freshwater and saltwater), operations (nets and logistics, moorings, services), administration, and sustainability. These are conducted by company professionals and technicians. The experience has not only been enriching for students, but has also allowed all members of BluRiver’s newly formed team to play an active role in training young people and validating the knowledge acquired during their trajectory in the industry.
Likewise, this project includes visits by young people and their teachers to the company’s various centers, and to date internships have been scheduled for 12 students, which will take place in the summer of 2019, at BluRiver’s salmon farming centers Mina Elena, Isla Marta, and Punta Vergara.
The 2018 Training Award was received by the General Manager of Blumar Seafoods, Gerardo Balbontín.
