Puerto Montt, January 26, 2022. At an event held at San Sebastián University in Puerto Montt, the new project was presented to materialize new infrastructure and sustainable development of Caleta Anahuac, where public and private sector actors will contribute, notably the company Blumar and the university.

The ceremony included the participation of the Mayor of Puerto Montt, Gervoy Paredes; the president of the Caleta Anahuac Fishermen’s Union, Juan García; the Vice-Rector of San Sebastián University, Sergio Hermosilla; and the Farming Manager of Blumar Salmon, Pedro Pablo Laporte.

This project will be developed in its first stage by the Architecture program at San Sebastián University, which will later be joined by Commercial Engineering and Engineering in Expedition Management and Ecotourism. The second stage includes the Master Plan for Caleta Anahuac, with the design of modern and functional infrastructure that will enable sustainable development over the next 20 years.

According to the Mayor of Puerto Montt, Gervoy Paredes, “now we must work on planning to obtain the resources to carry out the project. We will seek to do this through the municipal Planning Department along with university professionals and the entire Anahuac community. We want to work actively on this project”.

For his part, the president of the Caleta Anahuac Fishermen’s Union, Juan García, stated that “this project led us to think about productive diversification through tourism, without overlooking the vocation of our fishermen”.

One of the private companies involved in this project has been the company Blumar, who through their Farming Manager, Pedro Pablo Laporte, stated that “several of us are already working with the caleta and this tourism project. San Sebastián University joined this effort and now we are seeing the first results of a project that we are willing to collaborate on and make a reality”.

It is worth noting that Blumar has supported Caleta Anahuac over recent years through the installation and construction of a new pier, as well as engagement with the various communities and authorities in the area.
