• The company delivered 100 thousand masks to strengthen the safe return to classroom for children and young people.

The pandemic has kept students from the high schools and schools of Talcahuano away from their classrooms for more than a year. Now that the return to in-person classes is being reactivated, under the safety protocols recommended by health authorities, many are the establishments that require support. For Blumar, education is very relevant and has been permanently linked to its neighbors through different support initiatives.

This is confirmed by Talcahuano’s Mayor Henry Campos, who highlights: “we have a very good relationship with the community and with the companies that today make up the Tripartite Board of the Municipality of Talcahuano, which addresses environmental matters, but which also promotes the implementation of many actions that are linked to corporate social responsibility and in this sense the Blumar company has made a great contribution with 100 thousand masks for the educational community of Talcahuano, in order to guarantee the safe return to classes of our students”, he said and added that the municipality is working hard on this matter, because “we want all our students who are beginning to return to classes to have protection elements and not only those we have purchased as a municipality, but also those that are being acquired through donations that companies are making in the municipality of Talcahuano”.

For his part, Juan Manuel Riffo, Director of Education of the Municipality of Talcahuano, thanked the delivery, “we want to thank Blumar company for this delivery of 100 thousand masks which will help in the process of opening educational establishments in our municipality, we are working hard on that, and we hope to begin in-person classes in some educational establishments in the short term. We seek to continue building ties with the companies that are in our municipality and thus provide confidence and safety in the return to classes of our students”.

Meanwhile, Blumar’s Sustainability Sub-manager, Felipe Hormazábal, highlighted the permanent support that has been generated toward the community throughout this pandemic. “We want to tell you that this is not necessarily one-time, since with education and schools in our nearby communities, both in the San Vicente sector and in Libertad-Gaete, we have been working since last year, as we made a donation that we maintain to this day of internet connectivity for the children of San Vicente and also together with other companies in Talcahuano in the Libertad-Gaete sector we made a donation of tablets also so that children could connect to online classes. So, the issue of education for Blumar is something we have maintained and the commitment is reaffirmed now with this specific need for the return to classes and we hope that they return to in-person classes which is the most important thing, so if we can contribute with a grain of sand to make that happen, we are delighted to continue collaborating”.

Blumar Seafoods’ Fishing Operations Manager, José Ocares, stated that “the company is very happy to be part of this initiative since it provides a direct benefit to our neighbors. We feel very integrated into our communities and care about their well-being. We know of the existing need and the importance that surrounds the peace of mind of knowing that children are well cared for in their establishments. Our commitment to the community has been permanent, which is why we say we are here for this requirement. We do not want anyone to stop studying due to lack of supplies that are so important to deal with this pandemic”.
