Blumar Successfully Completes First Fish Meal Export Through Siscomex Platform

Industry & Global Standards

– It was a shipment to South Korea, with 100 tons of fish meal from the Corral plant that left through Biobío.

The Blumar team is very satisfied with this new step that reinforces the work carried out in the Commercial, Quality and Logistics areas, this time hand in hand with innovation using the Siscomex platform, which allows savings in time and money, facilitating international trade. An operation that involved logistics across two regions to complete the product’s departure with a destination to the Asian continent.

In the opinion of Marcelo Álvarez, sub-manager of Logistics at Blumar, “it is very important to participate in these innovations that facilitate the export process, and in recent years we have advanced with Sernapesca to implement these tools that allow us to process our exports online. This Sernapesca Electronic Foreign Trade System, Siscomex, allows us to process 24 hours a day, and shorten export cycle times because it eliminates the in-person procedure in the notification of fishing exports”.

“With this first shipment of 100 tons of fish meal, destined for South Korea, we mark a route that allows us to project more dynamic development of our exports, following the path taken by the Salmon area, the first to use the platform to export their products”, highlighted Ramón Inzunza, who was in charge of the executing team as system administrator, and added that “international trade is facilitated through this digital platform that allows smoother operations, even impacting the reduction of carbon footprint”. He also commented that exporting fish meal has more complications, as it is a mixture of various raw materials and requires greater quality controls, as well as sanitary controls, among other procedures.

Smoother Operations

Claudio Báez, regional director of Sernapesca Biobío, highlighted the implementation of the Sernapesca Electronic Foreign Trade System, which is integrated by more users each day. “We are very pleased that Blumar has added its fish meal processing and production plants, both in Corral and Talcahuano, to complete this shipment to Korea”, he stated.

“This is the third fishing company in the region that processes online notification of fishing export shipments for fish meal, and we hope that the remaining ones will join soon. It should be noted that this processing line was the last to be incorporated into the Siscomex platform. We started first with aquaculture products, then white fish, crustaceans, and thus we have been expanding the basket in this tool that saves time and costs for exporters”, said Báez.

It is worth noting that the Chilean State promotes the digitalization of all public systems, since in this way various online services can participate in operations and avoid in-person procedures, a benefit for everyone in times when mobility reduction is requested, without neglecting economic development.
