– The company supported the fourth-year certification of the educational establishment in the municipality of Penco, Biobío Region, strengthening technical training and providing them with key tools to successfully face their upcoming internships in the aquaculture industry.

A total of 17 fourth-year students specializing in aquaculture from Liceo Pencopolitano –in the municipality of Penco, Biobío Region– received the approval certificate for the safety course for personnel working on larger naval vessels with the Independent Air Propulsion (PIA) qualification, thanks to Blumar’s support.

The initiative is part of the company’s commitment to strengthen technical-professional education and provide concrete tools that allow young people to better integrate into the aquaculture labor market.

Blumar’s Sustainability Sub-manager, Felipe Hormazábal, praised the students’ effort and joint work with educational institutions. “As a company we firmly believe in the talent and potential of young people. This type of certification opens new opportunities for them and prepares them to face the challenges of the aquaculture sector with greater confidence. For us it is very significant to be part of this training process and to continue strengthening our relationship with the community,” he said at the certificate presentation ceremony.

Meanwhile, the director of Liceo Pencopolitano, Alex Díaz Villauta, explained that this course is part of a process to strengthen the aquaculture specialty that has been in development for more than eight years. During this time, the school has worked to place its students in both production systems and scientific research, building strategic links with the industry.

“Thanks to Blumar we have been able to generate deeper relationships and, in this case, we have implemented a training and certification process for our students to learn and gain experience in what it means to be in the culture centers of the south. For us this is of enormous importance, because it opens the doors to production systems and allows us to provide more tools to our students,” highlighted the school director.
For his part, Elías Briso, a fourth-year student specializing in Aquaculture at the school, thanked the opportunity to participate in the course, highlighting that “we have learned very valuable topics, such as safety and risk prevention, survival, reading nautical charts, parts of a ship, industry-specific vocabulary, among many other knowledge that will undoubtedly be fundamental to our training. We are confident that what we have learned will serve us not only academically but also in our professional future”.
