Blumar took a new step in its commitment to the educational community of Magallanes by bringing salmon to the students of María Behety High School, which becomes the third educational establishment in the region to receive this contribution, following Bernardo de Bruyne School and Dellamira Rebeca Aguilar School.
Thanks to the partnership with Merkén, the company in charge of providing food services to schools throughout the country, 580 monthly portions will reach the high school, the largest quantity distributed so far in an educational establishment in the region. With this, hundreds of young people will have direct access to this high-quality protein with important nutritional benefits for the first time.
“It is an achievement for us to have this partnership with Blumar. Delivering such a valuable product to our students and beneficiaries is very important, and we want to maintain this collaboration for as long as possible,” highlighted Margaret Ayala, regional head of Merkén.
During the activity, a gastronomic fair of the School Food Program, PAE, was also held. There, students tasted not only salmon, but also the different foods that are part of the daily menu that Junaeb delivers to the establishments. Its regional director, Natacha Carrasco, emphasized that “as a region we have made significant efforts to diversify the food offerings and incorporate salmon into the menus. We know it is a highly sought-after food, with benefits for the development of new generations and with very good acceptance among students. These partnerships go directly for the benefit of the educational process.”
The connection with María Behety High School is not new. Since Blumar’s arrival in Magallanes more than six years ago, the company has promoted various initiatives with the educational community. For Trinidad Amezaga, head of Mercado Blumar store, this milestone has a profound meaning: “It is very significant to share with the high school students a product that normally reaches the main international markets. We want the young people of Magallanes to also enjoy it and recognize the value of what is produced in their own region. This delivery not only contributes to their nutrition, but also to their comprehensive development.”
The school community received the initiative with enthusiasm. The high school principal, Marcela Andrade, highlighted: “It is an added benefit to our students’ nutrition process. Having this food at least twice a month is truly wonderful, because it is highly desired by them. Once again, hand in hand with Blumar, we receive this contribution with great joy.”
The enthusiasm was also reflected in the students themselves. Brixdeily Prieto, a sophomore student, shared her experience: “I think it is a very good opportunity. Some didn’t come to eat because of the food, but now that there is something they like and that catches their attention, they can come and take advantage of it. I am very glad, because I am a bit picky and I loved it: good seasoning, good food.”
With this contribution, Blumar reaffirms its commitment to building solid and long-term bonds in Magallanes, expanding access to healthy food and strengthening ties with the educational communities in the region.
