Within the framework of the Tripartite Table of Coronel, the neighborhood associations of Cerro Obligado, Cerro Villa Alegre and Cerro Merquín, together with representatives from the Municipality of Coronel, Asipes and Blumar personnel, visited the facilities of the fishing and salmon company’s fishmeal plant, with the intention of learning about internal operations in the field of technology for odor mitigation.

The director of the environmental department, Javier Valencia, commented “We come to discuss solutions to address the problem of bad odor emissions during a certain period of the year, so we are very pleased to begin this work with Blumar on behalf of Asipes. Establishing concrete, serious and sustainable communication channels will allow us to advance in creating good neighboring relations”.

To this, the representative of the neighbors of Coronel, María Luisa Villegas, declared herself grateful for the good relations that Blumar has with its neighbors and added that “we believe this is a good opportunity to reach this dialogue table to express our concerns, so I congratulate everyone who is here working together to continue advancing in the well-being of our community”.

For his part, Marcelo Videla, submanager of Blumar plants, stated that it was a rewarding instance for those who make up the tripartite table and “what better than to be at a table getting to know each other to show them that this is how Blumar works, we operate by complying with current environmental regulations and always in favor of being able to improve any situation together with the community”.

The company that operates 6 months of the year, of which 2 are with processing (March – April) and 4 of support for artisanal landings (February-May-June-December), committed itself to inform the neighborhood associations of Coronel about its management and activities with the purpose of maintaining constant relations in response to the requirements of its neighboring communities.
