Within the framework of the agreement between Blumar Salmon Farms, the Municipality of Maullín, and the Polyvalent High School Captain de Fragata Francisco Vidal Gormaz, an ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) handling course was conducted where 17 students from the aquaculture specialty of the High School participated and were trained over two weeks.
The course completion took place through an in-person activity where the Mayor of Maullín, Nabih Soza, participated and commented on the event “Blumar provided a very important tool, so I only have words of gratitude for the company. Congratulations and hopefully we can continue doing more things for the benefit of young people from Maullín”.
The course was taught by the company Sur Terra Capacitaciones with the support of Patagonia ROV, who provided the equipment. On this matter, Alex Perez, General Manager of Patagonia ROV, commented “For us it is important to participate in these activities, since this is the third time we have supported Blumar with its community and the second time with the students of Maullín High School, the other time was at Blumar Magallanes facilities. The course was positive because the students were super motivated regarding robotics and the relevance it has nowadays in aquaculture work, so they were always saying they were very interested in the topic and hoped it could be repeated”
In the agreement renewed in 2020, Blumar assumed a commitment with the students of the aquaculture specialty at Maullín High School, which consists of an educational model aimed at supporting the training of students linked to salmon farming activity and its associated services. On this, the Director of Maullín High School mentioned that “The activity seemed very interesting to me, it was a symbolic ceremony, representing the first tools our students have, concrete tools that will serve them effectively to enter the job market. For us as a high school, it has been a tremendous challenge to carry out an educational system in recent times, but we are grateful to Blumar because we have always adapted to contexts and circumstances without failing to respond to our students”.
For his part, Blumar’s Human Resources Manager, Victor Meza, stated “For us it is a source of pride to know that young people are interested in industry processes. I reiterate our commitment to the high school and its students, where through this agreement we have been able to contribute to the training of new professionals, who we hope will use these tools to continue growing”.
