It is very relevant for Blumar Salmon to shorten the logistics chain and reduce shipping times from the plant, especially with a fresh product, which will be in the main sushi restaurants in Brazil in a few hours (Mundo Acuícola).

From Carriel Sur Airport in Concepción, a shipment of 2,000 kilos of fresh fish departed, bound for Viracopos airport in Brazil. This is the first certified export from Blumar Salmon with regional air shipment, which was made possible thanks to the documentation processing carried out entirely with the Public services of the Biobío region such as the National Fishing Service and the National Customs Service. 

The operation was carried out in the presence of the regional authorities for Treasury, Cristian Muñoz; for Economy, Mauricio Gutiérrez, as well as the local directors of Sernapesca and Customs. For Blumar, the Commercial and Value Added Manager of Blumar Salmon, Daniel Montoya;  Logistics Sub-Manager of Blumar, Marcelo Álvarez: and the Sustainability Sub-Manager of Blumar, Felipe Hormazábal.

From the company they confirmed that while some shipments had already been made from this airport, these were only carried out as transit to later fly from Santiago to the United States.

For the Commercial and Value Added Manager of Blumar Salmon, Daniel Montoya, this milestone is very significant because as an eminently regional company, decentralizing air shipments will give greater fluidity to operations, as well as an opportunity to increase business with important markets. “It is very relevant for Blumar Salmon to shorten the logistics chain and reduce shipping times from the plant, especially with a fresh product, which will be in the main sushi restaurants in Brazil in a few hours, a highly demanding market in terms of quality”, he said and added that annual shipments of up to two million dollars are estimated, potentially increasing to five million when the airport has the necessary infrastructure.

“As a government we are very pleased because companies like Blumar dare to trust in our capabilities. We hope that more companies, with other fresh products, will ship as cargo from this airport area here in Talcahuano. We need more players to get involved, not just exporters, but also companies with logistics services that allow growth. We believe that the decision made by Blumar is the right path”, said the Treasury regional authority of Biobío, Cristian Muñoz.

Finally, the Economy regional authority, Mauricio Gutiérrez, highlighted that the Biobío region is making progress on logistics challenges, generating quality jobs. “For us the fundamental strategy is to be the exit ports both maritime and air of the macro center-south area”, he concluded.
