– The company’s consolidated operating income during the first six months of the year totaled nearly US$330 million and net profit reached more than US$24 million. The largest growth was in the salmon area, with a 50% increase in sales of this segment.
Talcahuano, August 25, 2021. Blumar announced the results of the first half of this year, reporting a total of US$329.1 million dollars in operating income, which represents a 35% increase compared to the same period in 2020. This increase is generated by higher sales in both business segments of the company, with a 20% increase in fishing and 50% in salmon.
Of the reported income, 57% came from the aquaculture segment, whose main products are Atlantic salmon and coho. Meanwhile, 43% came from the fishing business, where fish meal and fish oil represented 16%, frozen jack mackerel 19% and products derived from white fish 7%.
Likewise, the company reported net profits of more than US$24 million, which means a positive variation compared to the same semester of 2020. This improvement is explained, on the one hand, by the better performance of the fishing sector, but especially by the Fair Value of salmon for the period, in addition to a better average selling price of the same product that recorded a 5% increase compared to the same semester of the previous year and 39% higher in Q2 compared to the same quarter of 2020.
“The stability of the operation, given by the adoption of timely health measures, together with the commitment of workers and better market behavior, especially in the food service sector, have generated these positive results for the company,” said Blumar’s general manager, Gerardo Balbontín.
