This recognition is awarded to companies that stand out for their commitment to sustainability. In this way, the company, which operates in seven regions of the country, becomes the first in the fishing aquaculture sector to be awarded this distinction.
For its positive impact on society through the implementation of sustainable practices in the economic, social and environmental spheres, Blumar company was awarded the Sustenta 2018 Prize, Sprout category, becoming the first company in the fishing aquaculture sector to receive this recognition.
The Sustenta Prize is a distinction awarded by the Metropolitan Technological University, with the sponsorship of the Ministries of Environment and Labor and Social Security; the Sustainability and Climate Change Agency, and Mutual de Seguridad to companies that stand out for their innovative environmental policies and for executing sustainable business plans to promote the country’s development.
In this 2018 version, 37 companies applied. After an audit of the pre-selected ones -which was carried out at the facilities of the companies- and the evaluation of a commission, Blumar and six other companies received the recognition, including Unilever, CCU, Comaco SPA, Viña Cono Sur, Natura and Dimerc.
During the ceremony, representatives of the awarded companies shared experiences about how to work around sustainability. In the case of Blumar, this presentation was in charge of the People Manager of the company, Raúl Hermosilla, who highlighted the main achievements of the company’s sustainable strategy, including the Propyme Seal, the recent signing of a Clean Production Agreement and linking projects with rural schools in the south, through the Blumar at Your School program, among others.
The executive explained that this award is an incentive to continue advancing on the challenges that Blumar has assumed through its Sustainability Strategy. “This recognition allows us to continue moving with greater confidence along this path in order to integrate sustainable management into the DNA of our company”, he emphasized.
