Blumar Reaches Agreement with Employees on New Collective Bargaining Agreement

Industry & Global Standards
  • The negotiation involved a total of 562 people who are part of the salmon processing plant and other tasks within the company.

The workers’ union of Salmones Blumar reached an agreement with company representatives on November 9th, closing the collective bargaining process that involved a total of 562 people who are part of the direct process of the salmon farming plant, also including personnel with other tasks within the company.

The Human Resources manager of Blumar, Raúl Hermosilla, noted that “the negotiation took place in a framework of understanding and dialogue, where we were able to deliver a final proposal, after many iterations, which was accepted by the union. We believe that this is the path where we must continue moving forward, where good labor relations prevail, and both workers and the company can continue meeting their objectives”.

To this, the president of the Blumar Salmon Plant union commented “it was a good negotiation, workers had no complications in approving the proposal, remaining quite satisfied. It is difficult to please 100% of a group of 562 people, but I believe it was one of the best negotiations we have had”.

It should be noted that the collective bargaining agreement was discussed over several weeks, in order to cover all the points requested by the union and the workers. With the signing of this Contract, a validity of 3 years was agreed upon.
