We share with you our fourth press release regarding the sinking of the “Caicura” farming center on June 27th following an unusual storm.
- We confirm that despite the adverse weather conditions faced at this center, there were no casualties to report. All workers present at the center performing their various tasks were successfully evacuated as a precaution.
- Likewise, yesterday there was a window of improved weather conditions in Reloncaví Sound, which allowed us to begin clearing mooring lines and hoses, facilitating the safe passage of other vessels through that area.
- Yesterday we also initiated a robotic operation to access the cages; however, it had to be interrupted when weather conditions worsened. We are monitoring meteorological conditions minute by minute to advance in this procedure without risking our human teams.
- We maintain intensive work in the area, with several mooring vessels and more than 400 artisanal fishermen, as well as fishing vessels specially equipped with nets for fish recapture, to comply with protocols and measures indicated by the authorities. To date, we have recaptured 7,942 Atlantic salmon, which have been received primarily along the entire east coast at the outlet of Reloncaví Estuary, specifically in the coves of Contao, Mañihueico, Teltehue, Aulen, Rolecha and La Poza, among other areas. In these locations, an intensive counting procedure has been carried out led by the center’s own staff, in addition to production and operations teams.
- Likewise, the work carried out by our human team made it possible, in a short time window, to disconnect and transfer the pontoon of the “Caicura” farming center to Puerto Montt, under the supervision of the competent authority, which has overseen and cooperated with the operational execution of the maneuvers.
- We continue to maintain permanent contact with the authorities, artisanal fishermen, neighborhood and union leaders to inform them about the procedure and its progress.
