Blumar Opens Clean Point for San Vicente Community

Sustainability

With the purpose of supporting San Vicente with waste management and environmental care, Blumar reaffirmed its commitment to Talcahuano through the inauguration of the first Clean Point installed in the company’s facilities and open to the community.

This project arises from the need to encourage recycling in the Talcahuano commune, offering a place to deposit waste, thus achieving that these are valued and do not end up in landfills. Together with the Illustrious municipality of Talcahuano, the waste of greatest generation in the commune was discussed, which helped with the start of the project.

José Ocares, Operations Manager Fishing at Blumar commented on this “The importance of this initiative for Blumar is to increasingly promote the connection that the company has with the place. What we want with this clean point is for families, neighbors, to start recycling and change the way they dispose of things. Here we installed a recycling point and there are three things we want neighbors to bring to recycle and thus gradually promote the generation of less waste, which in the long run will be a positive impact for everyone”.

For the Director of Environment of the Municipality of Talcahuano and attendee at the inauguration, Solange Jara, it is important to demonstrate willingness to do things for the community and for the environment “I want to congratulate Blumar for the initiative, it is super positive for us, we want it to be repeated, we want industries within their environmental CSR to incorporate these good actions, good practices that ultimately are in favor of the Talcahuano community. Blumar has been part for a long time in the tripartite commissions developed in the commune, in Libertad Gaete it has been an important representative of the fishing companies and also in San Vicente, motivating and encouraging the community to participate and build this link that seeks to deliver and be an environmentally sustainable commune over time”.

The clean point located in Blumar’s facilities accepts paper and cardboard waste, plastic bottles and aluminum cans, has a total capacity of one ton and certifies the treatment of waste ensuring proper final disposal.

The inauguration had the participation of representatives from the environment department of the Municipality of Talcahuano, Blumar collaborators and representatives from the neighborhood boards of San Vicente, among them Gabriel Frías, president of the JJVV Partal neighborhood of San Vicente  who expressed his opinion regarding the new clean point “I praise and congratulate Blumar fishing company for making this sector that was once a pigsty, now looks clean, you can walk on both sides, I congratulate Blumar for making San Vicente cleaner. Thank you for the invitation and we as neighbors will motivate the participation and use of the clean point”.
