Since the beginning of its operations, Blumar Magallanes has worked to improve the management of waste generated in its facilities.

This is how the environmental area managed an agreement with Rembre Magallanes, a regional company that will be responsible for removing waste generated in the habitability of the culture centers, as well as in the administrative office and warehouse. These wastes will be segregated according to their categorization from the source and, subsequently, accumulated in the warehouses of Rembre Magallanes company, and after a certain time will be transferred to the north of the country where they will be delivered to a recycling company.

“Until a couple of months ago, the Region did not have a company that would receive all waste with recyclable characteristics.  For this reason, most of this waste was taken to landfills. Now, thanks to this service, Rembre will be in charge of collection and compaction. After this, the bundles of maxibags, cardboard and plastic will be sent to valorization companies that will treat the waste and transform it into raw materials to create new products”, commented Fernanda Valdivia, head of the environment department at Blumar Magallanes.

Likewise, Blumar Magallanes manager, Ignacio Covacevich highlighted: “we are very pleased with this new agreement, which allows us to reduce the amount of waste going to landfills and encourages the possibility that other companies reuse our waste to create new products. In this way, we not only take care of the environment, but also generate a circular economy”.

Furthermore, the agreement will allow for training for Blumar Magallanes workers and employees, which aims to motivate and raise awareness about the importance of recycling.
