– The training program, which will benefit 17 people, has a duration of 52 hours and will be developed under the Sence pre-contract modality, financed by Blumar Magallanes and executed by the Training and Capacity Building Center for Aquaculture of Magallanes.
Punta Arenas, June 22, 2023. Blumar, within the framework of the collaboration agreement with the Salmon Farmers Association of Magallanes and the kawésqar communities in the region, will conduct technical training in catering and mixology, with the objective of promoting professional and personal development of the community.
The training program, which will benefit 17 people, has a duration of 52 hours and will be developed under the Sence pre-contract modality, financed by Blumar Magallanes and executed by the Training and Capacity Building Center for Aquaculture of Magallanes.
For the president of the Kawésqar Community Residents Punta Arenas, Magali Parancan, “the classes have been very entertaining and we are all motivated by this course, because it is something new for us. We want to continue practicing the knowledge we have acquired”.
The training is taught by Carmen Izquierdo, a technician in gastronomic production with a specialization in international pastry from Inacap, who with her extensive experience and knowledge is guiding the participants through a complete educational program, ranging from compliance with hygiene and presentation standards to preparation techniques, cocktail mixing and mixology with regional products.
“Today they began to put into practice everything we learned in the theoretical classes. The idea is for them to learn everything about catering, to see what the appetizers are that are made for cocktails and the dishes that can be prepared for a dinner. We will start with the most basic things so they can learn everything related to catering”, said Carmen Izquierdo.
“It is very gratifying for us to see how we can support this community, perhaps with something so small, but significant for them: a month of catering studies, with which afterwards they will be able to work developing their own ventures; and it gives value to their lives, to their development as people, and also strengthens this bond that we have with them”, highlighted Pablo Solís, production sub-manager of Blumar Magallanes Salmon.
The course will end on July 14, reaffirming with this initiative the commitment that Blumar Magallanes has with the kawésqar community and contributing to the socioeconomic development of the region.
