– This is a document that brings together the commitments assumed by the company’s corporate governance, and which emerges from intense work led by an Executive Committee that addressed the matter and the work that the company has been developing with organizations such as the Global Compact.
This Friday, Blumar completed the launch of the company’s Gender Equality Policy, as a result of a long journey in this matter and with which it seeks to promote equal opportunities and a diverse environment that favor the sustainable development of the business.
The policy is based on ten commitments that cover different company processes and its environment. Among them, the promotion of women’s participation in leadership positions and their presence in different operational activities stands out; the promotion of reconciliation between work and family life; and the generation of instances that strengthen ties with women in the communities where Blumar is present, seeking to promote their development.
Blumar has been developing work on gender equality in recent years through instances that have been formalized in the company. “We took all the work we have done with other organizations, which served as input for the Executive Committee on Gender Equality that held meetings with zonal committees throughout our operations. This allowed us to have governance in this matter to adopt realistic and traceable measures”, said Natalia Alfaro, Head of People at Blumar and one of the leaders who drove this process.
The company’s work was also based on the subscription to the Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs) of the Global Compact, a tool that allows advancing gender equality at all levels of the organization. “We are working with a world standard tool that allows us to constantly challenge and measure ourselves. With this policy, we seek to recognize and promote gender equality as a fundamental pillar to foster an inclusive and diverse environment”, commented Alfaro.
At the launch, which took place in Talcahuano, there was reflection on the relevance of building a gender equality policy, as well as on what were the main challenges and how they were addressed, and how it is possible to continue advancing in that sense. “We seek to promote equity throughout our value chain and ensure that Blumar is a space where all people are respected equally, bringing our behavioral principles to life”, said the Head of People at Blumar.
The policy is built on the basis of current legislation and aligns with international treaties, such as those promoted by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the Principles of the United Nations Global Compact.
