We are a company that is part of the Global Compact Chile Network

Margarita Ducci, representative of the organization in Chile, highlighted that the incorporation of our company into the Network opens a door for a new productive sector to commit to the sustainable principles promoted by the organization.

Blumar formalized its membership in the Global Compact Chile Network, becoming the first salmon farming company in the country and the second in the fishing sector to join this initiative of the United Nations Organization, considered the largest voluntary instance of corporate responsibility in the world.

In this way, our company commits to integrating into its strategies and operations the 10 universal principles promoted by Global Compact related to the areas of human rights, labor relations, environment, and anti-corruption. Moreover, it declares that its work in the field of sustainability will be aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) promoted by the Network.

To date, Global Compact has more than 12,000 participants worldwide representing 161 countries, including Chile, whose chapter includes 73 members, both national and multinational companies.

“We welcome Blumar, which joins the Global Compact initiatives, and we hope it will have an active participation in this Network, playing an important role from the fishing and aquaculture sector in favor of reconciling business and sustainability”, said Margarita Ducci, Executive Director of Global Compact Chile Network.

Gerardo Balbontín, General Manager of Blumar, explained that since the company took on the challenge of becoming a leading company in sustainable development in Fishing and Aquaculture, it has been taking on increasing challenges to incorporate sustainability in each of the basic guidelines of its strategy. “We have also done this to respond to our clients, for whom it is important to know our processes and products, the conditions of our workers, compliance with environmental regulations, and our relationship with communities”, he noted. But also, to fulfill the commitments made with international organizations that the company is part of, including Global Salmon Initiative (GSI), which works to achieve significant progress in sustainability within the salmon industry. “Therefore, joining Global Compact is one more demonstration that at Blumar we want to be promoters and active actors in sustainable development”, he concluded.
