– The company joined an important agreement with Fundación Huella Local, which will benefit the Libertad and Gaete neighborhoods in Talcahuano, reaffirming its commitment to sustainable development of the communities where it operates.
With the purpose of advancing toward more fair and collaborative urban development, Blumar joined an unprecedented joint work agreement with Fundación Huella Local. The initiative will carry out participatory design of community infrastructure initiatives in the Libertad and Gaete neighborhoods in Talcahuano, benefiting more than 15,000 inhabitants. It is a new step in the public-private articulation model promoted by the Business Board.
The agreement signed—in which other companies from the industrial sector in Biobío also participate—aims to implement projects that, once validated by the community, can apply to the Urban Improvement Program (PMU) of the Ministry of the Interior during 2025.
“Our development is directly linked to the well-being of neighboring communities. That is why this alliance represents a new way of being a company; one that listens, gets involved, and wants to be an active part of the solutions that communities demand,” said Blumar’s Sustainability Sub-manager, Felipe Hormazábal.
The process will be led by Fundación Huella Local, an entity that coordinates efforts between companies, local governments, and communities to develop public infrastructure projects. Blumar and the foundation also collaborate in other regions, such as Los Lagos and Aysén, in public-private articulation boards where municipalities and social leaders participate, generating projects that benefit the territories.
In this initial stage, participatory assessment of needs, preliminary project development, and the construction of an image are contemplated, which will subsequently be validated by the neighbors themselves.
Blumar’s participation in this new agreement reinforces its commitment to the territories where it operates, joining other efforts promoted with the Business Board, a collaborative body that also includes Huachipato, Cementos Biobío, PacificBlu, and Pescadores Industriales del Biobío, among other organizations.
Since its creation, this alliance has promoted different initiatives—such as the strengthening of local entrepreneurship with CIDERE Biobío—, environmental programs in coastal areas, and urban improvement projects with a focus on territorial equity.
