            Coronel, March 16, 2022. Blumar took an important step in terms of sustainability by incorporating cutting-edge technology in the facilities of its plant located in the Coronel municipality. This innovation will allow it to reduce its odor emissions by up to four times.

This is the incorporation of devices developed by the company that, through absorption, neutralization and oxidation systems for gases, allow for a significant reduction in odor levels generated in the fish meal and fish oil production process.

            The initiative, which is part of a global company program with an investment of USD 1,500,000, allows for more modern and environmentally friendly facilities, as well as responding to community needs.

            The Head of Fishing Operations, José Ocares, stated that “this project is a clear response from our company to the conversations we have held both with the communities and with the municipality, and demonstrates our firm commitment to continuing to be a responsible and engaged neighbor.” He added that “thanks to this initiative, we are going to significantly reduce the generation of odors inherent in the production process, which will directly benefit our neighbors. It is a project that involves all of us: our employees, artisanal fishermen and Blumar’s strategic direction.”

The Director of Environment of the Coronel Municipality, Javier Valencia, noted that “this table is an example that allowed us to generate a baseline document where neighbors could understand, in a simple way, how it works and where the critical points of each process are, so we can prioritize investments and actions that benefit the quality of life of our community.” He also indicated that “the mayor has set this table as a reference to begin interacting with our neighbors from different sectors, both in the north and south zones.”
