Once again the Blumar family was able to gather, this time around the annual scholarship awards ceremony for the children of its employees, who presented outstanding academic averages. The 35 young winners represent the effort and work in the areas of primary and secondary education, as well as university and technical-professional education.
After two years of pandemic where the scholarship delivery was carried out virtually, in 2021, the company opted for in-person events, with the aim of strengthening ties between participants and marking an important milestone in their lives.
Meanwhile, Raúl Hermosilla, Blumar’s People Manager, said that “it is a true pride to be again with our people and with the children of our workers in the delivery of these scholarships, where what we have sought is to promote good academic results. Parents feel that the objective is achieved by encouraging the delivery of this benefit, it is our grain of sand that allows us to support education in our people, because nothing is free, everything has been the fruit of effort”.
Fernanda Taboada, Blumar Salmon Processing Manager, also participated in the ceremony, highlighting the opportunity to share with young people in this activity. “For Blumar it is a great pride to have outstanding children, hopefully they would all be. We are convinced that through education you can go very far. It was wonderful today to be in contact with the children and youth, it was very enriching. We are proud to have workers who have instilled good customs in their children, we are happy”.
María Olivia Carrillo, who works as an administrative human resources officer, highlighted that the delivery of this type of scholarships “is an incentive for our children, a motivation for them to strive in their school year, to put effort and achieve academic success. My son was very nervous, when I told him he had won, he was happy, he wanted to come and participate”.
One of the beneficiaries was Camila Bravo, who is in her third year of nursing at the University of Concepción. She said that “it seems to me that it is a rich opportunity to get together, it’s nice that they reward effort. My parents congratulated me and motivated me to keep participating each year to earn the scholarships. The ceremony was a very pleasant atmosphere”.
Luis Camus, crew member and loader in San Vicente, has been with the company for 20 years and, very emotionally, commented that “this event is super good because it encourages youth and it is very good for parents as recognition for the sacrifice they make for their children. He also said that it has been very good to return to in-person events, because on-line was not the same. I have the pride of having three professional children, it is a personal achievement that I was able to maintain thanks to the company’s support, many know me and know about the sacrifice, I feel happy”.
Finally, Claudio Quilodrán, Administrative Head of Artisanal at Blumar, thanked the holding of the ceremony in person. “This opportunity allows us to encourage the children of our workers to seek perfection through grades, and that is very positive. Today we were able to meet them, strengthen ties and share with the children of our colleagues and our partners appreciate this opportunity because the children can meet the place where their parents work, and get to know each other”.
