With an important milestone, Blumar’s fishing area concluded 2021 by certifying all of its facilities with 100% compliance in the security management system of the Chilean Safety Association, which is based on ILO guidelines. This is the first year the fishing area has achieved this recognition after a year of work and change since the ACHS took on the challenge of advancing accident prevention within Blumar, safeguarding the health of workers as the new mutual.
José Ocares, Blumar Fishing Operations Manager, commented “When we faced the ACHS management system, we saw it as a challenge that, together with permanent advisory support and the leadership and dedication of our safety team, we achieved with 100% certification across all our operational units. This achievement fills us with pride and confirms that for the company people come first and that our concern is with the workers”.
For ACHS Regional Sub-manager Cynthia Garcia, this achievement represents an important commitment from the company “We feel very proud, we are about to complete a year working with Blumar and it is impressive how the organization managed to certify through our system all its fishing area plants, this conveys to workers that the organization is concerned with having all its safety systems in place for their protection”.
The ceremony was held in person at the ACHS facilities and included the participation of representatives from Blumar’s fishing operations and the mutual.
To this, Felipe Hormazabal, Sub-manager of Sustainability and Occupational Safety and Health, mentioned “We were able to close out a year where after much work we achieved certification. Safety at Blumar is a fundamental pillar, it is a culture that we have embedded in our management and it is part of our challenge to continue improving so that in the future we have results as positive as those we have to date. We seek to maintain optimal performance to certify our work centers with 100% compliance in the occupational safety and health management system with the goal of sustainably reducing our accident rates.
