The recognition granted by the Ministry of the Environment acknowledges the company’s voluntary management of greenhouse gas emissions and its progress in environmental efficiency.
This achievement is the result of the transition to cleaner energy sources at both facilities, replacing diesel and fuel oil with natural gas and LPG to reduce the environmental impact of their production operations.
September 16, 2026. Environmental management and the gradual reduction of emissions are key operational priorities for Blumar across its different business units. In this context, the Ministry of the Environment awarded the HuellaChile Program’s Reduction Seal for the first time to the Coronel Fishmeal Plant and the Bahía Caldera Fishmeal Plant for the 2025 reporting period, following verification of an effective reduction in their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
HuellaChile is a voluntary government initiative that encourages the private sector to measure, manage, and reduce its GHG emissions in a traceable manner. On this occasion, the recognition awarded to Blumar and Pesquera Bahía Caldera reflects the operational changes implemented to transform the energy mix of stationary sources at both fishmeal plants.
“This seal recognizes tangible progress in our commitment to reducing emissions. The changes implemented in the energy mix at the Coronel and Bahía Caldera plants have enabled us to reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with our operations, reaffirming our focus on environmental management based on concrete actions and measurable results,” said María José Zagal, Blumar’s Head of Environmental Management for the Fishing Business.
This milestone further consolidates Blumar’s climate action efforts, which the company has been advancing since 2018 under the HuellaChile Program. It builds on the Reduction Seal previously awarded to the San Vicente Fishmeal Plant in 2019, 2020, 2022, and 2023, as well as the company’s continuous achievement of the Quantification Seal across all its facilities. These efforts are complemented by the use of renewable electricity at its plants and ongoing work toward emissions reduction targets validated under the international Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
