Talcahuano, June 7, 2023.  The company Blumar, following its purpose of nourishing people while honoring the ocean and maintaining its commitment to support social organizations, delivered more than 500 kilos of frozen jack mackerel to the Biobío Solidario Food Bank (BABBS), an entity that contributes to improving nutrition and preventing the waste of food suitable for consumption. The donation will benefit more than 1,500 people in vulnerable situations, who belong to the different social organizations that work directly with the Food Bank.

The activity, which took place at Blumar’s Rocuant Freezing Plant, included a tour of the facilities to learn about the process carried out within them. Additionally, attendees tasted and learned about different preparations with jack mackerel, which is considered a fish with enormous health benefits.

The event was attended by the plant manager, Mónica Prado, who commented that “we have collaborated with Biobío Solidario for more than 6 years and we maintain that commitment, both with the Bank and with the organizations within it that need these contributions, as we know they are very significant for them”.

“We are working with around 40 social institutions and we have a reach of around 20,000 people in vulnerable situations. Blumar is a company that is not only involved from an economic perspective, but also from its human team, and that has been very meaningful for us”, commented the manager of the Food Bank, Clahudett Gómez.

Finally, from the community of Rehabilitated Alcoholics of Talcahuano, an organization benefited by the donation, they expressed that “it is an approach that comes from large industries towards us. Everything that is being done now is very beneficial and what can be done in the future, and for that reason, we are very grateful for the help and the work being done”.
