– The company reaffirms its commitment to Magallanes by becoming, for the third consecutive year, a key piece of the successful Strait Plunge 2025, providing 7,000 shirts and logistical support to this emblematic cultural event.

Blumar was once again part of the Magallanic winter as the main sponsor of the traditional Strait Plunge, an event that in 2025 set a participation record with more than 7,000 swimmers and nearly 20,000 attendees in total. The initiative, which is part of the official program of the Winter Festivities in Punta Arenas, has become established as a cultural and tourist landmark in the region.

For the third consecutive year, the company joined the organization of the event, providing shirts for participants and collaborating in overall logistics. “We are very happy and proud to participate in this Magallanic celebration. It is the third consecutive year that we support this activity, which we already feel is a tradition. Today we were present with 7,000 shirts so that everyone could enjoy these icy waters,” said Pablo Solís, regional manager of Blumar Salmon.

For his part, Trinidad Amézaga, leader of the company’s experience center, Blumar Market, highlighted the company’s commitment to this traditional event. “As a Blumar team, we feel deeply proud to support this emblematic activity that has become part of the cultural identity of Punta Arenas. This is our third consecutive year supporting the Strait Plunge, which reflects our solid commitment to the municipality and the Magallanes region. We look forward with enthusiasm to the 2026 edition, where we will undoubtedly be present again,” he noted.

International participation was another highlight of the event, with swimmers from 16 countries, highlighting the presence of about 200 Argentine neighbors. Even two 85-year-old participants surprised by becoming the oldest of this edition. All of this on a day marked by citizen enthusiasm and impeccable organization, which was supported by the Chilean Navy, Carabineros, Fire Department, health services, and municipal personnel.

The mayor of Punta Arenas, Claudio Radonich, valued the contribution of private companies, emphasizing that “it was a quite cold day, but very beautiful, with a record number of attendees and public around the area. This was possible thanks to the support of the Navy, Carabineros, Fire Department, municipal personnel, Blumar and CCU, who collaborated to make this national celebration a success”.

After the traditional dip, attendees were able to enjoy hot chocolate thanks to the Army, and a musical show by the regional band Sensations. As part of the experience, those who participated in the plunge also have access to discounts at more than 40 local businesses, thus encouraging tourism and regional commerce.
