With the purchase of Salmones Iceval that took place in 2019, Blumar assumed the responsibility of working with a new union that needed to be integrated into the company’s productive model. In this way, and amid the health crisis affecting the country, a complete and unprecedented collective bargaining process was carried out with the Iceval Union, with whom the approval of the stipulated agreements was signed.
Among the main changes highlighted in the negotiation are: increases in compensation, which will allow leveling compensation on a staggered basis, as well as benefits such as bonuses, vacation bonuses and bonuses associated with productive processes. The agreement reached will have an impact for 26 employees, including electromechanics, center operators, kitchen masters and center assistants.
Luis Larenas, president of the Iceval Union, expressed satisfaction with the negotiation. “It was something unexpected given the context we are living as a country and globally, it was very difficult to reach an agreement as we did, we all knew that the company was making a great sacrifice so that today we would feel satisfied with what was achieved”, he said.
For his part, Raúl Hermosilla, Blumar’s Personnel Manager, expressed great satisfaction regarding the signing of the agreement as this negotiation marks an important milestone for the company, “it is the first time we have closed an agreement with a union in this way. We had committed to it and it was fulfilled and we are proud to know that our people are satisfied with the work done”, he emphasized.
The negotiation was concluded at the offices of Salmones Blumar in Aysén, following all preventive measures dictated by the Health Service and had the participation of management and heads from Talcahuano, Puerto Montt and even from a cultivation center in the southern fjords, through a videoconference.
Finally, it was indicated that the dates for the implementation of the adjustments, as well as salary increases and benefits, become effective as of May 2020, with a duration of three years.
