• Reviewing its history and highlighting its collaborators, the company commemorated the milestone of 10 years of existence.

In a hybrid ceremony from the Salmon Plant in Talcahuano, Blumar Seafoods commemorated its tenth anniversary. As a precautionary measure, only a reduced number of people attended in person, including collaborators representing regions from Caldera to Magallanes, community representatives, union leaders and authorities, such as the regional governor of Bío Bío, Rodrigo Díaz, and the mayor of Talcahuano, Henry Campos.

It was an emotional and memorable event, which was followed online by company employees from Caldera to Magallanes. Blumar’s board president, Rodrigo Sarquis, mentioned that “we are very committed to the future, learning from past experiences and improving in what we are doing, committed to the sector, the company and the country”.

Meanwhile, the company’s general manager, Gerardo Balbontín, expressed that this celebration is a very important milestone for the company and its employees. “The health situation forced this to be a very simple activity, however, despite this simplicity, we tried to reflect the entire history of our company from Caldera to Magallanes during these 10 years, of which we are proud and can affirm that we are all Blumar,” he highlighted.

Representing the workers, Paola Sanhueza, president of the Salmon Union, attended and stated that “today we have learned to see life in a different way and to value what we have achieved. As plant operators, we are proud of the human capital that has been developed and, as leaders, that we have been able to strengthen bonds of transparency with management, which has allowed us to move forward together”.

For his part, the president of Blumar Union 2, Alfonso Arévalo, also celebrated the vision the company has had in facing market fluctuations and the constant generation of employment, which “has been important in these 10 years, continuing to grow, and the importance given to people and value creation through the products made”.

“A company rooted in our municipality”

Another attendee at the event was the mayor of Talcahuano, Henry Campos, who indicated that Blumar “has created and maintained employment for families in our municipality, providing stability and playing an important role in the history of the port along with the development of industrial fishing. It has been a company rooted in our municipality that stands out for providing social assistance to our neighbors and that actively collaborates in favor of the environment, participating in the tripartite table, as well as generating constant support for the Talcahuano Symphony Orchestra”.

For his part, the regional governor of Bío Bío, Rodrigo Díaz, highlighted the company’s decision to work aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), noting that this “speaks of serious commitment, collaboration, recognizing mistakes and moving forward. The fishing industry is part of the vocation of the Bío Bío Region and I will always be available to open paths of dialogue to contribute with a company that does things right”.
