– The event, which returned to being held in person after 4 years, was valued by both managers and members of the 11 unions that were present.
Talcahuano, November 15, 2023. After almost 4 years in which it could not be held in person due to the pandemic, this week the traditional annual dinner between board representatives and union leaders of Blumar was resumed.
The event, which was led by the board president, Rodrigo Sarquis, the general manager, Gerardo Balbontín, and the Human Resources manager, Raúl Hermosilla, was attended by 11 of the presidents of the unions of the fishing and salmon farming company.
The Head of Submarine Operations at Blumar Salmon and union leader, José Luis Loyola, stated that the meeting “was very rewarding and productive. I really liked the group we have, based on the conversation that took place with the other union leaders, Rodrigo Sarquis, Gerardo Balbontín, and the entire team that participated in the meeting”.
He added that “beyond managerial or union positions, we saw cross-cutting issues that occur in the different facilities of the company. We got to know each other, we saw what needs we have and what the board expects from union leaders. It was a very nice experience and, in fact, I requested that this meeting be held twice a year”.
The president of the Jureles Plant union, Héctor Leal, indicated that “at this dinner there was the opportunity to share the different perspectives we have about the company, its weaknesses and strengths over time. Furthermore, we were able to get to know each other and share, talking about experiences from the different places where we work”.
The Human Resources Manager of Blumar, Raúl Hermosilla, commented that “we managed to create a very enriching space”, which allowed them “to continue strengthening ties of trust and transparency, share our points of view, where the ‘shoe was pinching’ the company and each union”. He also valued that “it was a relaxed atmosphere, but one that had great significance”.
The General Manager of Blumar, Gerardo Balbontín, noted that the event “allowed us to know, understand, and stay more up to date with the problems, concerns, and so on. It was an opportunity for the company president to share his vision of what the board is feeling about the business and its projections”.
“We discussed the possibility that next year, if we repeat it, doing it in other places, so that union leaders can get to know the company in different zones, because we are present in six regions”, Balbontín added.
