            Puerto Montt, May 2, 2023. As part of the commemoration of the International Day for Safety and Health at Work, more than 70 people and hundreds of attendees via streaming from Aysén and Magallanes gathered to celebrate Blumar’s “Occupational Safety and Health Week in Farming,” which featured the participation of former tennis player and coach Horacio de la Peña.

            During the event, recognition was also given to outstanding employees in the daily activities they carry out, considering preventive work and their commitment to safety in processes and the work environment.

“I found the activity very enriching, because we were able to exchange knowledge between high performance, ACHS with its safety panel, and Blumar’s field experience team. These topics are very important, and repeating actions helps us make fewer mistakes and have fewer accidents. I appreciate Blumar’s invitation and hope these initiatives can continue to be carried out to promote occupational safety for employees,” highlighted De la Peña.

            For his part, Blumar’s Farming manager, Pedro Pablo Laporte, commented that “for our company, safety is very important, especially to care for all our employees in all our facilities, such as farming centers, warehouses, offices, among others. These initiatives serve to publicize what we are doing and what our objectives are for the future, in a plan in which each of the attendees has relevance.”

From the Chilean Safety Association, the sub-manager for the Los Lagos Region, Christian Cáceres, added that “with Blumar we began collaborative work implementing the DEKRA methodology, with which we hope to improve and be able to sustain indicators that allow us a reliable and safe operation for the company’s employees and their service companies.”

            Blumar’s sub-manager of Sustainability and S&OSH, Felipe Hormazábal, pointed out that “we have defined a clear path in matters of safety, which is aligned with our strategy and also with the company’s purpose. The efforts we make daily in these matters should be oriented toward collaborative work and leadership to strengthen our safety culture. We highlight the work of the Farming team, who continuously seek new tools and methodologies for continuous improvement in safety matters.”
