Magallanes, March 29, 2022. In a ceremony attended by the mayor of Punta Arenas, Claudio Radonich; the Regional Secretary of Health, Francisca Sanfuentes, and the acting director of the Health Service, Ricardo Contreras, the new respiratory care module of the Community Family Health Center (CECOSF) was inaugurated, where residents of Río Seco and Barranco Amarillo will be able to enjoy the new facilities equipped with the latest medical technology.

This new facility, which has 45 square meters, was built thanks to the donation of Blumar Magallanes and Entrevientos, which contributed approximately $50 million in order to improve this center for healthcare workers and patients who come to receive respiratory care.

The mayor of Punta Arenas, Claudio Radonich, mentioned that “it is good that a company has committed to investing in something for the entire community. With this module we will be able to have more space for our neighbors and for the professionals who work here, and I want to highlight the great human and professional quality of all the teams”.

“With this contribution we reaffirm the bond we have with the residents of Barranco Amarillo and Río Seco. We are proud to deliver this module, a construction that was complex due to the pandemic and the amount of resources involved, but we know it will facilitate care and provide greater security to both patients who need to attend check-ups and the workers at this health center”, said Pablo Solís, production submanager of Blumar Magallanes.

Likewise, Alfredo Valdés, plant manager of Entrevientos, noted that “we are very happy. The truth is that this is a small contribution for the work done here at the CECOSF, and that is what matters, that people have better access to health care near their homes”.

Catherine Levet, head of the CECOSF in Río Seco, highlighted that “as a team, we are very grateful for the collaborative relationship that has been established with the companies Blumar and Entrevientos, which seeks to benefit the people who live in our area of influence. This module will provide the CECOSF with greater security, quality and comfort to approximately 1,600 people, who receive different services daily from our multidisciplinary team, and with this specific space we will be able to distribute human resources better and, thus, improve the quality of our care”.

It should be noted that this center of the healthcare network has been under the Thomas Fenton CESFAM, administered by the municipality of Punta Arenas, since 1981, and its purpose is to maintain the health of the population, developing mainly preventive and health promotion activities with a family and community approach.
