– During the meeting, the regional authority was also able to tour the company’s facilities and learn about the tasks developed during the production process. 

            Talcahuano, September 8, 2022. The Seremi of Women and Gender Equality of Biobío, Lorena Segura, visited the Blumar Salmon plant to explain the scope of the Parental Responsibility Law, as well as to learn more about salmon farming activities and the work performed by women who are part of the company, who currently represent 70% of this center.

            At the meeting, Blumar Salmon’s processing manager, Fernanda Taboada; human resources manager, Raúl Hermosilla; sustainability submanager, Felipe Hormazábal; and the president of the Blumar Salmon plant union, Paola Sanhueza participated. Following the meeting, the seremi toured the company’s facilities in order to learn about the work being carried out and generate collaborative work with the company.

            “For our government, women are in focus, especially those in a work environment, as in the industrial fishing and salmon farming world. It is important to know them, visit them and talk, to understand what their work is, which must be safe so they can be at ease and their rights are guaranteed. It is always appreciated to visit committed companies”, stated the Seremi of Women and Gender Equality, Lorena Segura.

For her part, Blumar Salmon’s processing manager, Fernanda Taboada, stated that “we are very pleased to be able to receive authorities at our center, with the objective that they can learn about our work and be able to generate a link for the future. We want all our collaborators to feel supported by us, and we have made our efforts to continue advancing in these matters and be able to support them, since they are an important pillar of our production process”.

            Furthermore, the president of the Blumar Salmon plant union, Paola Sanhueza, who also extended the invitation to the authority for the plant visit, indicated that “we want to promote work from the union association to seek support networks and information, seek specialization for our workers in the processing plants and advance on the path of professional development”.
